Zombie Town is the city where I’m from. No matter about the name, I can tell you it’s in the north of Italy, but it could be anywhere in the world. Here people are dead, there’s no light in the eyes: walk, buy, eat icecream and go to church on Sunday. Everything is normal, right? But who cares about normal things? To be 20 kms far from one of the most important and influential city in the world doesn’t matter. Nobody cares. Here everything is cool: houses are beautiful, they have gardens in the backyard, kids always smile, the eat everyday and everybody’s happy. Unfortunately they’re all dead and they don’t care about the world going on outside the town. I was born in this city and I have my headquarter here since 30 years. I don’t know anybody from this place, except for parents. I don’t think I care about getting in touch with someone from here. Sometimes I feel like a zombie too, but the real ones: a creepy walking dead man looking for human flesh. But the zombies you can find in the movies are ten thousand ways more funnier than the ones that I see everyday here.
Emanating from Milan’s unsavory peripheral zones, Ale Formenti’s raw, honest and alternately titillating and unsettling photographs of drinking, bleeding, crack smoking, vomiting, tattooed miscreants and hoodlums (along with female fellow travelers clad only in lilac-colored panties and gas masks) capture a punk rock skateboarding funhouse existence with a distinctly Italian flavor. Formenti finds his inspiration in everything that happens around him, taking pictures of his kind of people and doing it in the way that does their self-destructive high jinks, bad habits and unbridled sense of fun justice. He doesn’t produce “cool” images like those “that would make even a leper look nice” and isn’t interested in distorting reality but representing the fundamental nature of his subjects.

”Ortung”
Das künstlerische Denken der Künstlerin kreist vor allem um die ästhetische Erfahrung von Orten als Räumen. Diese haben, ob als eingerichtetes Zimmer oder als unsichtbare Abteilung einer Unendlichkeit, spezifische Atmosphären, spürbar, selten bewusst realisierbar. Sie durchdringen unmerklich die Menschen und bestimmen ihre Weisen des sinnlichen Wahrnehmens, der Vorstellung, des Denkens und Handelns. Mit ihren umfassenden Installationen greift Kamps in die Räume ihrer Welt ein und macht über den Prozess einer poetischen Transformation ihre atmosphärischen Qualitäten sichtbar und erfahrbar.

Die Künstlerin aus Sinsheim arbeitet in ihren Installationen und Objekten viel mit Naturmaterialien wie Heu, Lehm, Wolle, Tierhaaren, Kirschkernen und bietet verblüffend neue und andere Sicht auf Natur, Alltagsdinge und scheinbar Vertrautes. Die Arbeitsweise und der Ideenkosmos von Elisabeth Kamps sind so subtil wie unkonventionell, lassen vom geistigen und gedanklichen Hintergrund vielleicht manchmal an Beuys denken.
Elisabeth Kamps holt vertraute alltägliche Dinge und Gegenstände aus ihrem gewohnten Umfeld und stellt sie in ganz neue Zusammenhänge. Das kann der Kleiderbügel sein, der mit lauter Rosinen gepolstert ist, das können die Besteckkästen sein, die sie mit Beutelchen aus Leinen, Leder und Samt füllt. Besonders anspielungsreich ist die Serie „Guten Morgen“: eine Reihe von Objektkästen mit Teebeuteln, gefüllt mit Buchstabennudeln, und garniert mit Zeitungsausschnitten, auf denen Nachrichtenfetzen von Militäreinsätzen, Streitkräften, Mehrwertsteuer, Gesundheitswesen zu lesen sind – wie bei der Morgenlektüre am Frühstückstisch. Lele ist Maler,Zeichner und Skater. Nach einem Kunststudium in Ljubljana, Slovenien lebt und arbeitet er wieder in Postojna, Slovenien. Das akademische Wissen und das Leben der Straße vermischt sich in seiner Arbeit. Mit einer großen Dosis Humor ergibt sich etwas, was Lele Bambino Art nennt (it.: Bambino – baby). Das Basementizid zeigt seine erste Einzelschau in Deutschland.

Geboren 1977 in Postojna / Slovenia.
Als Maler/Zeichner und Skater vereint er seine sk8/street Erfahrungen mit einem Gefühl für Zeichung und Farbe und nennt es BAMBINO ART.
Er ist aktiv beteiligt in der Gruppe BELI SLADOLED (weiße Eiscreme) als Maler und als Skater in seiner viel geliebten BOLDRIDER sk8 zine/blog/video Crew. Nebenbei arbeitet Lele mit verschiedenen Leuten in skurrilen »art groups« und alleine als freischaffender »freestajl artist«.

Born in 1977 in Postojna / Slovenia.
Painter/drawer and skater, combining his sk8/street experiences with his drawing feeling to gain something he likes to call BAMBINO ART.
As a painter he’s active in the painting group called BELI SLADOLED(white ice cream) as a skater in his beloved BOLDRIDER sk8 zine/blog/video crew. Beside working with different people in odd art groups he works also alone as a freestajl artist.

,,Gaza : was it worth a war?”
1330 Palästinenser starben, unter ihnen 315 Kinder. Über 5000 Menschen wurden verletzt. 4000 Häuser wurden zerstört, 17000 stark beschädigt. Durch Bomben zerstörte Schulen, Universitäten und Moscheen sind das tragische Resultat der dreiwöchigen israelischen Attacke im Gazastreifen. Zivilisten und Beobachter verschiedener Menschenrechtsorganisationen, wie z.B. Human Rights Watch und Amnesty International waren Augenzeugen der durch die israelische Armee von Tsahal verübten Kriegsverbrechen und verurteilten diese auf das Heftigste. Diese Organisationen beschuldigen ausserdem die Hamas, Familien als menschliche Schutzschilde missbraucht zu haben, indem sie diese zwangen während der Bombenangriffe in deren Häuser zu bleiben. Die Ziele der israelischen Regierung wurden durch diesen Krieg nicht erreicht. Der Gaza Streifen befindet sich weiterhin in der „Eisernen Hand“ der Hamas. Trotz der Angriffe schmuggeln palästinensische Aktivisten nach wie vor Waffen durch Tunnel von Ägypten nach Rafah. Diese Tunnel sind die einzige Hoffnung der Bevölkerung um Wasser und Essen zu erhalten und die Ölversorgung zu gewährleisten. Trotz des Waffenstillstands wurden mehrere Kassam-Raketen auf Israel abgefeuert. Von 2001 bis zum Beginn der israelischen Offensive, starben 14 Israelis durch diese Bomben.

Frédéric Sautereau
Wurde 1973 geboren und ist Fotograph im Auftrag der Oeil Public Agentur. Seine Hauptthemen sind die doppelte Bedeutung von Begrenzung und Teilung.
Zwischen Juli 1997 und April 2000 konzentrierte sich seine Arbeit hauptsächlich auf die geteilten Städte Belfast, Nicosia, Mostar, Jerusalem und Mitrovica. Das Ergebnis dieser Arbeiten wurde auf dem Visa pour l`image Festival 2001 in Perpignan ausgestellt und wird regelmäßig in den FNAC Gallerien gezeigt. Sein Buch zum Thema-„Des Muis et Des Vies“ (Von Mauern und dem Leben)- wurde von Le Petit Caramaguais im Mai 2002 veröffentlicht.
Von Juni 2000 bis August 2003 widmete er sich dem „Lisiéres d´Europe“ (die Ränder Europas)- Projekt. Dadurch erhielt er Unterstützung des Label Paris Europe, dem Nationalen Zentrum für plastische Kunst und der Hachette Stifung.
2003 erhielt er den Fuji Preis für eine Arbeit, welche die Mauer zwischen Israel und der West Bank zum Thema hatte.
2006 war er der erste Fotojournalist, der die Aktionen der Armee der Zentralafrikanischen Republik gegen die Bevölkerung im Norden des Landes anprangerte. 2008 erhielt er den Paris Match Award.
Darüber hinaus wurde seine Arbeit zu den Nachwirkungen der Angriffe des 11. September auf New York in Frankreich, Deutschland, der Schweiz und Portugal gezeigt. Sein Buch ” N40°42′42” W74°00′45”” wurde 2003 von der Edition 779 veröffentlicht. Diese Arbeit ist Teil der nationalen Stiftung für zeitgenössische Kunst.

Gaza : was it worth a war ?
1330 Palestinians died, of whom 315 children. More than 5000 were injured. 4000 houses destroyed, 17 000 severely damaged. Schools, universities and mosques smashed by bombs are the tragic aftermath of the three-week Israeli attack in Gaza Strip.
Civilians and investigators of various Human Rights organizations, such as Human Rights Watch and Amnesty International, witnessed and denounced war crimes committed by the Israeli army of Tsahal. These organizations also blame Hamas for using some families as « human shields », forcing them to stay in their homes despite bombings.
Goals of the Israeli State in this war have not been reached. Hamas still holds Gaza Strip in its iron hand. Palestinian activists still smuggle weapons from Egypt to Rafah through tunnels despite bombings. Tunnels are the sole hope for populations to get water, food and oil supplies so far.
Several Qassam rockets have been shot on Israel after the ceasefire has been declared.
From 2001 to the beginning of the Israeli offensive, these rockets have killed 14 Israelis.

Frédéric Sautereau
Born in 1973, Frederic Sautereau is photographer of Oeil Public agency. His central themes are the dual notions of border and divide.
Between July 1997 and April 2000 his work focused mainly on divided cities, namely Belfast, Nicosia, Mostar, Jerusalem and Mitrovica. The resulting series was exhibited at the Visa pour l’image festival in Perpignan 2001 and is regularly shown in the FNAC galleries of photography. His book on the theme, Des Murs et Des Vies ( Of Walls and Lives) was published by Le Petit Camarguais in May 2002.
From June 2000 to August 2003, he devoted himself to the Lisières d’Europe (The Edges of Europe) project. This received the support of Label Paris Europe, the National Centre for the Plastic Arts, and the Hachette Foundation.
In 2003 he received the Fuji Prize for a work on the wall separating Israel and the West Bank.
In 2006, he is the first photo journalist to denounce the exactions of the Central Africans militaries against the populations in the North of the country. He received the Paris Match award in 2008.
Elsewhere, his work on New York in the aftermath of the 11 September attacks has been shown in France, Germany, Switzerland and Portugal. His book ” N40°42′42” W74°00′45”” was published by Editions 779 in September 2003.
This work is part of the National Fund for Contemporary Art.

„was wir uns auch überlegt haben ist, Schrottholz zu sammeln und damit eine Wand zu verkleiden und auch auf die Holzwand zu malen. also eine Installation. das ist noch nicht so sicher, ich hätte da aber Lust drauf. ich bin jemand der spontan arbeitet, auf das was da ist reagiert und mitgebrachte Sachen integriert. ich mache vorher selten Konzepte, das funktioniert bei mir nicht.“ Danny Gretscher

Manchmal erblicken wir in diesen Flächen plötzlich diffuse Formen, Gesichter oder Tiere, die wir dann herausarbeiten und unserer Inspiration freien Lauf lassen – frei nach Baudrillard: nicht wir denken die Objekte, sondern die Objekte denken uns!“

Danny Gretscher
ist ein Mann mit vielen Gesichtern. Bei seinen Darstellungen von fiktiven Charakteren im Strudel der Zeit, die manchmal auch von Textfragmenten konfrontiert oder begleitet werden, wird weit mehr erzählt als nur das Abgebildete. Seine feinsinnig ausgewählten Materialien und Formate erschaffen entschiedene Räume und stimmungsvolle Atmosphären, in die der Betrachter nahezu widerstandslos miteinbezogen wird. Dannys unmittelbare Fragen an das Leben und die Fähigkeit zur offenen Wahrnehmung, machen seine Bilder und Installationen, überall wo auch immer sie einem begegnen, zu einem ungezwungenen Ort für die Neuverortung im seltsam wunderbar Alltäglichen.

Influenced by mixed memories resulting from our various journeys to Europe, Asia and Africa, from our love for the flavour of graffiti, for arcimboldo, Hieronymus Bosch and our positive thinking we try to merge contemporary “streetart”, popsurrealism and character design with ethnical elements thereby creating our own style. One main part of our work is to create art in the streets and nature and to work with the environment which surrounds us and inspires us to be creative. In fact sometimes we do not really know what kind of art we create…often we just discover places which scream for color and revival or we suddenly see diffuse parts, faces, animals in a fresh painted wall or a tree and let it flow…

Danny Gretscher
is a multifaced man. His illustrations of fictional characters in the swirl of time – sometimes confronted with or accompanied by textual fragments – narrate much more than is displayed. His subtle chosen materials and formats create resolute spaces and impressive atmospheres in which the viewer is incorporated almost unresistingly. Danny’s immediate questions adressing life and his frank perception turn his pictures and installations – wheresoever you might meet them – into an unconstrained place for relocating oneself into oddly wonderful daily routines.

Majls Exhibition
Ausstellung des schwedischen Allroundkünstlers, der sich als Allroundbär mit seinem Kunstwerk in Form einer Fabel mit der Menschseinfrage auseinandersetzt.
„Majls ist ein Bär, der versucht, von den Menschen und anderen Spezies für sein eigenes Ich geschätzt und anerkannt zu werden.
Seine Träume, z.B. Erfolg zu haben und in den Medien als Genie oder Star gesehen zu werden, sind schwer zu realisieren, wenn man anders ist bzw. aussieht. Und
deswegen wird es wohl bleiben was es ist, nur ein Traum.“
Am Samstag, den 13. Dezember 2008, ab 14.00 Uhr wird seine Ausstellung im Basementizid in der Wollhausstr. 17 eröffnet.

Der Ausgangspunkt von Majls Kunst, liegt in seinen eigenen Träumen über Akzeptanz, sozialem Status und einem besseren Leben.
Durch die Beobachtung der menschlichen Verhaltensweisen und ihrem Verhältnis zum jeweiligen Status, versucht der Bär Majls Höheres zu erreichen.
Dies sieht er in einem Leben, in welchem er respektiert und geschätzt wird. Ist dies jedoch möglich, wenn Sie anders aussehen und was geschieht, wenn es nicht gelingt ? Ist es eine Fantasiewelt, welche nur im Kopf , in der Psyche existiert oder ist sie in der Realität möglich ?
Majls Kunst scheint zunächst unklar, aber unter der Oberfläche sieht man, dass mehrere heutige existenzielle Punkte eine Wichtigkeit spielen, wie die Selbstverwirklichung, Streben nach Glück und Herrlichkeit, aber gleichzeitig auch die vorhandene Unzufriedenheit und das Dasein als Aussenseiter. Es ist auf jeden Fall sicher, dass diese Fragen und Zustände auch uns betreffen.

Majls
Exhibition of this Swedish all-round-artist. He is a bear, which deals in his artwork ,in the form of a fable, with the human being issue.
Majls is a bear that tries to be appreciated by humans and other species. His dreams that to become successful and for example, be seen in media as a genius or a star, could be hard to realize when you look different. And therefore it might just stays there, just a dream.
On Saturday, 13 December 2008, at 14.00 clock his exhibition opens in the new Basementizid room, Wollhausstr. 17.

Majls´s art got its starting point in his own dreams about acceptance, social status and a better life.
By observing the human behaviours and their relation towards status, the Bear Majls also tries to archive something higher.
A life where he becomes appreciated and respected. But does this work when you look different and what happens if you don´t succeed?
Does this fantasy world exist in reality or only mentally?
Majl´s art seems to be ambiguous, there is something under the surface that touches several existential respects within our contemporary age like self realisation, happiness and glory, but at the same time dissatisfaction and being an outsider. It definitely asks questions that affects us.

„My work is a life-long documentary of the people surrounding me in the subculture of skateboarding. As a child I was drawn to skating by its lack of rules and authority figures, a reason that attracts many athletic kids who are fed up with the rules and regulations of team sports. Skateboarding served as a raw and bloody (often violent) escape from the trite, passé reality of my clean, suburban childhood. This attraction, combined with the fact that skateboarding is outlawed in almost every major city, has led to a scene filled with a unique combination of delinquents and freethinkers (not to mention gluttons for punishment). I have now spent over half my life skateboarding and chronicling the lifestyle that comes along with it. As a participant rather than a spectator, I strive to be as unobtrusive as possible and blend into whatever chaos I am photographing. A frequent subject of mine is budget road life (also known as “the most ghetto way possible”) as my friends and I travel from city to city in search of new terrain to skate. However, by ignoring the literal act of skateboarding and instead focusing on the people of this group, I am celebrating the life and times, trials and tribulations of my surrogate family.“
Phil hat an der University of the Art in Philadelphia Fotografie mit einem Fokus auf Lebensdokumentation und Subkultur des skateboarding studiert. Er arbeitet bereits seit über 4 Jahren als Fotograf für das „Concussion“ Magazin und den Skateshop „Nerd“ in Philadelphia und produziert Fanzines.

Release: When you are attracted to someone your brain releases the drug dopamine giving the same reaction that one gets from thrill seeking, sex, music, humanitarianism, surfing and skating to name a few. Behind all these lurks a brain chemical called dopamine.

BEN SULLIVAN – Fashion Photographer
Award winning photographer, Ben Sullivan has shot ad campaigns for everyone from Insight to Levis, exhibited his photos in galleries across Australia and published his pics in a host of magazines including Nylon, New Zealand’s Pavement, Australian titles Yen and Monster Children to name a few. When he can be persuaded to let go of his camera, Ben spends his days playing tennis and daydreaming about one day getting to shoot his idol, Neil Young.

BEN THÈ “Tea Room”
Ben Thé 23 Jahre alt, lebt in Geneva, ist Skater und Grafiker (der französischen Skateboardfirma Antiz) außerdem hat er mehrere Grafiken für Carhartt entwickelt. Er befindet sich noch im Studium in Geneva auf der Kunstschule „HEAD“….
Ob Collagen, die sich perfekt in den Hintergrund (z.B. Häuserwände, Türen oder Torsis) einfügen und ein neues Bild entstehen lassen, oder die Gestaltung von Skateboards, Schaufenstern oder T-Shirts……. Alles ist möglich.
BEN ist als Allroundkünstler zu sehen.
Nach Heilbronn bringt er seine Vision eines „Teeraums“ mit und wird das Basementizid in eine „Tea Room“-Rauminstallation verwandeln“.

BEN THÈ is 23 years old and lives in Geneva. He´s skating and works as a graphic artist (for the french skateboard company Antiz) furthermore he has developed a whole bunch of graphics for Carhartt. Recently he attends his studies at HEAD university of arts in Geneva.
He creates collages, that matches in perfect as a overall picture with the background (for example of: doors, walls and Torsis) and develops through that a new picture. He composes as well skateboards, shop windows and T-Shirts. It seems…………..everything is possible.
He can be seen as an allround artist.
To Heilbronn he brings his vision with, of a “Tea Room” and will be transform the Basementizid into a same titeled room installation. www.createavitea.com

Éric Antoine „Pissing in a River“
Zeigt in seiner Ausstellung „Pissing in a River“ Menschen, die er auf der Strasse getroffen hat und betitelt dies selbst als Erinnerungen („travel memories for a brainless person“ ) an spezielle Individuen und Reisen und als einzige Möglichkeit für sich, seine Trips in Erinnerung zu behalten.
Eric bekam 1993 seine erste Kamera von seinem Vater und begann mit Porträts und Konzertbildern. 1997, nach der Aufgabe seines Versuchs eines „normalen Arbeitslebens“, dem Verlassen von Frankreich, einem wichtigen Aufenthalt in New York und ein paar wichtigen Begegnungen widmete er sich ganz der Kunst des Fotografierens.
In den letzten 10 Jahren hat er für mehrere Skateboardmagazine (Lodown, Kingpin, Monster, Suger, …) und in der Werbung (Element skateboards, Volcom Clothing, Hessenmob, Independent, Crème skateboards,…) gearbeitet.
Er wurde Teamfotograf für éS, Etnies und Emerica (Sole Tech-Schuh-Marken) in Europa. Diesen Unternehmen ist er bis heute treu geblieben und er ist auf seinen Reisen durch ganz Europa mit deren Teams und Fahrern anzutreffen, während er auf der Suche nach neuen und ungewöhnlichen Orten für seine Fotografien ist.
Heute lebt Eric in Straßburg (Frankreich), wo er seine Schwarz-Weiß- und Farbfotos selbst vergrößert. Eric begann eine Serie von Ausstellungen mit einer Retrospektive seiner Arbeit in den vergangenen zehn Jahren und ist ab 05. April.2008 bis 24.Mai.2008 mit seinen Arbeiten im Basementizid.kunst.cellar zu sehen.
